Office Building – Water Booster replacement

Gustavo Preston Company’s  Aftermarket Sales Representative, Phil Murray, recently visited an existing customer who requested a site visit to evaluate their 40+ year old domestic water booster pump system. The current domestic water booster pump was experiencing issues because the piping and fittings were leaking and the controls were not operating properly, causing the booster pumps to run constantly to maintain water pressure. There were no VFD’s on this system so it ran at 100% constantly.

The six-story office building needed a water booster replacement and a new control panel to maintain the water pressure in the building.

Gustavo Preston recommended a QuantumFlo Prodigy Duplex water booster system. This system uses two end suction centrifugal pumps, mounted vertically for space saving, and is specifically designed for a high flow and lower boost pressures. In addition, the booster system comes with the iQFlo 3.0 booster operating system software.  This operating system monitors and predicts water demand, responds quickly to demand and guarantees shut down when no demand is present.

The replacement of the water booster and control panel was a smooth transition that allowed the customer to save energy with the installation of variable frequency drives, and reduces the operating cost of running the pumps and optimizing the pump efficiency.
